Patriot League Announces 2026 All-League Teams and Major Awards (5.6.26)

Holy Cross’ Egrie, Navy’s Bendik, Army West Point’s Overbeek and Schreck and Bucknell’s coaching staff earn major awards

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Holy Cross senior outfielder CJ Egrie and Navy junior right-handed pitcher Brady Bendik were selected as the Patriot League Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Year, respectively, when the League office announced postseason honors Wednesday. Army West Point garnered two and Bucknell received one major award.
 
The Crusaders’ Egrie collected Patriot League Baseball Player of the Year honors for the second straight season, becoming the fourth student-athlete in League history to accomplish the feat, joining Lehigh’s Casey Rother (2021-22), Navy’s Marcus Lee (1993-94) and Fordham’s Santy Gallone (1991-92).
 
The Midshipmen’s Bendik, a two-time All-Patriot League selection, is the first Navy student-athlete to earn Patriot League Baseball Pitcher of the Year since Noah Song in 2019 and the ninth in League Midshipmen to receive the honor.
 
Army West Point freshman RHP/OF/DH Josiah Overbeek was voted the Patriot League Baseball Rookie of the Year, earning a spot on the All-Patriot League First Team. The Black Knights’ senior shortstop Thomas Schreck captured Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year.
 
Bucknell’s coaching staff, led by head coach Scott Heather, was selected as the Patriot League Baseball Gene Depew Coaching Staff of the Year.

Overall, 27 student-athletes were named to the two All-Patriot League baseball teams, including 13 on the first team and 14 on the second team due to ties in the voting. Navy placed a League-high seven student-athletes on the two All-League squads, including four on the first team. Regular-season co-champions Army West Point and Bucknell, along with Holy Cross, each had five All-League selections, with the Black Knights putting three on the first team, and the Bison and Crusaders with two first-team selections apiece. Lehigh received three All-League selections, and Lafayette had two student-athletes earn recognition, with each team placing one on the first team.
 
Patriot League baseball coaches voted on the All-League teams and major awards. They were prohibited from voting for their student-athletes or themselves.
 
2026 Patriot League Baseball Player of the Year

*Egrie batted .340 (33-for-97) with a .448 on-base percentage and 25 stolen bases in 26 League games.
*He tied for the League lead with a .319 batting average and finished fifth with 38 runs scored, while his .458 on-base percentage ranked second in the League.
*The senior centerfielder led the Patriot League and ranked second in NCAA Division I with 40 stolen bases on 42 attempts.
 
2026 Patriot League Baseball Pitcher of the Year

2026 Stats: 12 GS, 78.1 IP, 6-3, 1.72 ERA, 2 CG, 1 SHO, 66 H, 24 R, 15 ER, 24 BB, 89 SO, .223 OPP BA, 1.15 WHIP
*Bendik, a two-time All-Patriot League selection, led the League and ranked fourth in NCAA Division I with a 1.72 ERA in 12 starts spanning 78.1 innings pitched.
*The junior right-hander went 6-3, finishing second in the League with 89 strikeouts and a League-best 3.71 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
*He went 4-2 with a 1.93 ERA in League play, making eight starts spanning 56.0 innings.
 
2026 Patriot League Baseball Rookie of the Year

*Overbeek, a two-time Patriot League Player of the Week, led the League in home runs (15), RBIs (41) and slugging percentage (.688).
*He led the League and ranked 14th in the nation in on-base percentage (.519), while walking an NCAA DI-best 55 times.
*The freshman also went 5-0 on the mound with five saves in 14 appearances, spanning 20.0 innings.
 
2026 Patriot League Baseball Defensive Player of the Year
Thomas Schreck, Army West Point, Sr., SS, Needville, Texas/Needville (New Mexico JC)
2026 Stats: 44 GP, 192 C, 56 PO, 132 A, 4 E, .979 FLD, 23 DP, .286 BA, 3 HR, 31 RBI, .388 SLG, 419 OBP
*Schreck led all Patriot League fielders with 132 assists in 44 starts at shortstop for the Black Knights.
*The senior tied for fourth, turning 23 double plays, while posting a .979 fielding percentage on 192 chances.
*He helped Army West Point post a Patriot League-best .980 fielding percentage.
 
2026 Patriot League Baseball Gene Depew Coaching Staff of the Year
Bucknell Bison (Head Coach – Scott Heather; Assistant Coaches – Jason Neitz, Brett Smith, Josh Kieffer)
*Heather and staff guided the Bison to a seven-game improvement in the win column to capture a share of the Patriot League baseball regular-season title.
*In 26 League games, the Bison posted a Patriot League-best team batting average of .274 to clinch the No. 2 seed in the Patriot League Championship for the first time since 2023.
*The Bucknell pitching staff finished second with a 4.68 team ERA and .237 opponents’ batting average in League play.

Eleven Honorees Earn All-League Recognition for the Second Time
Army West Point senior RHP Andrew Berg and senior outfielder William Parker earned spots on the All-Patriot League Second Team, receiving All-League recognition for the third time during their careers. Berg and Parker lead eleven multi-year All-Patriot League honorees on the two All-League teams.
 
Holy Cross Egrie and senior RHP Jaden Wywoda, the 2025 Patriot League Pitcher of the Year, earned first-team honors for the second straight season. Navy’s Bendik, Army West Point’s Schreck and Chris Barr (Sr., IF), Bucknell’s Michael Trommer (Sr., OF) and Lehigh’s Aidan Quinn (Sr., IF) highlight the two-time All-League selections on the 2026 first team.
 
Berg and Parker are joined on the All-Patriot League Second Team by a pair of two-time All-League honorees, Gianni Royer (Jr., OF) of Holy Cross and Evan Brown (Jr., IF) of Navy.
