BETHLEHEM, Pa. – No. 8/9 Lehigh and Fordham split the four Patriot League football weekly awards, presented by Credit Union 1, when the League office announced honors on Monday.
Lehigh senior wide receiver Geoffrey Jamiel claimed his first Patriot League Football Offensive Player of the Week this season after catching eight passes for 132 yards and a touchdown in addition to a 20-yard rushing touchdown in a 44-30 win against Penn.
Fordham graduate student linebacker James Conway collected Patriot League Football Defensive Player of the Week after recording 19 tackles and 1.0 TFL in the Rams’ 26-21 win over Holy Cross to win the Ram-Crusader Cup.
Lehigh senior placekicker Nick Garrido received his second straight Patriot League Special Teams Player of the Week. He scored a career-high 14 points, going 3-for-3 on field goals and 5-for-5 on PATs.
The Rams’ freshman running back Yohan-Li Louis was selected Patriot League Rookie of the Week. He rushed for 61 yards on 10 carries and caught three passes for 25 in the win against the Crusaders.
Bucknell junior safety Brad Gerken and fifth-year quarterback Ralph Rucker IV, Fordham sophomore placekicker Bennett Henderson and junior quarterback Gunnar Smith, and Richmond senior defensive tackle Matei Fitz and freshman punter Ned Gray received honorable mentions for their performances last week.
The Patriot League football players of the week are selected in a vote by League media members and each school’s football athletics communications contacts, who are not eligible to vote for their student-athletes.

Geoffrey Jamiel, Lehigh, Sr., WR, West Yarmouth, Mass./Deerfield Academy
*Jamiel caught eight passes for 132 yards, including a 35-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter, to lead Lehigh to a 44-30 victory over Penn to improve to 5-0.
*The senior wide receiver rushed for a 20-yard touchdown on a fake field goal to put Lehigh in front for good at 23-20 in the third quarter.
*He is third in the Patriot League and seventh in the FCS with 457 receiving yards this season.
Patriot League Football Credit Union 1 Defensive Player of the Week
James Conway, Fordham, Gr., LB, Omaha, Neb./Millard West
*Conway registered a game-high 19 tackles, four solo, and 1.0 TFL to lead Fordham to a 26-21 victory over Holy Cross to claim the Ram-Crusader Cup for the first time since 2016.
*He became the fifth NCAA FCS student-athlete since 2000 to record more than 500 career tackles, giving the Patriot League career tackles leader 511.
*The Omaha, Neb. native leads the Patriot League and the FCS with 15.0 tackles per game.
Patriot League Football Credit Union 1 Special Teams Player of the Week
Nick Garrido, Lehigh, Sr., K, Easton, Pa./Notre Dame
*Garrido set a career-high with three made field goals and 14 points in Lehigh’s 44-30 victory over Penn.
*The senior placekicker connected on field goals from 35, 33 and 25 yards to help the Mountain Hawks to a 16-14 halftime lead. He went 5-for-5 on PATs.
*He is 5-for-5 on field goals and 22-for-22 on PATs this season.
Patriot League Football Credit Union 1 Rookie of the Week
Yohan-Li Louis, Fordham, Fr., RB, West Palm Beach, Fla./Calvary Christian Academy
*Louis carried 10 times for 61 yards and caught three passes for 25 yards in Fordham’s 26-21 victory over Holy Cross to claim the Ram-Crusader Cup.
*The freshman running back rushed for 33 yards on three carries during a third-quarter drive that resulted in a field goal that put the Rams in front, 23-21.

Brad Gerken, Bucknell, Jr., S, San Clemente, Calif./San Clemente
*Gerken recorded an interception in the end zone with one second remaining in the game to seal Bucknell’s 30-23 win over Saint Francis. The junior safety, playing with a broken thumb, also added four tackles, including three solo stops.
Ralph Rucker IV, Bucknell, 5th, QB, Lucas, Texas/Lovejoy
*Rucker IV completed 15-of-25 passes for 168 yards and one touchdown pass in Bucknell’s 30-23 victory over Saint Francis. The fifth-year quarterback also rushed for 69 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries. During the Bison’s game-winning drive, Rucker rushed for 32 yards before throwing a touchdown pass to Tariq Thomas.
Bennett Henderson, Fordham, So., PK, Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair
*Henderson connected on field goals of 36 and 35 yards in the second half to help lift Fordham to a 26-21 victory over Holy Cross. The sophomore placekicker also kicked off six times for an average of 61.3 yards with two touchbacks.
Gunnar Smith, Fordham, Jr., QB, Lake Mary, Fla./Lake Mary
*Smith completed 14-of-21 passes for 254 yards, one touchdown pass, and a rushing touchdown to lead Fordham to a 26-21 victory over Holy Cross to claim the Ram-Crusaders Cup for the first time since 2016.
Matei Fitz, Richmond, Sr., DT, Leesburg, Va./Tuscarora
*Fitz recorded seven tackles, 1.5 TFLs, a half sack and one interception to lead Richmond to a 13-12 comeback victory over Howard. The senior defensive tackle’s interception gave the Spiders the ball at the Howard eight-yard line to set up the go-ahead score one play later.
Ned Gray, Richmond, Fr., P, Melbourne, Australia/St. Leonard’s
*Gray averaged 40.8 yards per punt with a long of 49 to help flip field position in Richmond’s 13-12 win vs. Howard. He placed two punts inside the 20-yard line, and none of his punts were returned.
